With the confirmation of the identity of the person who carried out the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, hundreds of memecoins were launched.

After the Republican candidate for this year's presidential election was fired upon, hundreds of projects were launched on the popular Solana memecoin production platform Pumpfun. Some of the memecoins were produced inspired by Donald Trump and others inspired by the triggerman.

It was alleged that a man named Mark Violets was behind the assassination attempt. Photos and videos of the alleged gunman spread on social media, and as a result, many tokens were created on Pumpfun. The most successful of these tokens, $TSHOOTER, reached a market value of $200,000.

The assassination of Donald Trump has stirred up the agenda

The rumor was quickly dispelled with the revelation that the person in the photos was Italian sports journalist Marco Violi, who had nothing to do with the incident.

According to Violi's translation on Instagram, he said, "The news circulating on my account is completely false and has been organized by a group of hateful people who have been ruining my life since 2018." He added, "On Monday, I will file a complaint against X accounts that fabricated this fake news and all the news headlines that spread it." He also asked people to "kindly leave me alone."

As hours passed, conspiracy theories began to emerge and more details circulated, it continued to get lost. Shortly thereafter, a graphic photo, allegedly of the deceased gunman, was used to create a token on Pumpfun.

One hour later, the New York Post identified the hitman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Three minutes after its release, a token was issued on Pumpfun using the hitman's name. The token reached a market value of $265,000 just 15 minutes after it was generated.
